Neysa Makizuru

ABOUT Neysa Makizuru

​

 Neysa Makizuru grew up in Volcano on the Big Island of Hawai'i. 

​

 Growing up, she was always surrounded by artists and art centers in her small town. From a very young age, she was always drawing, painting and crafting to pass the time. 

​

 After high school, she took a year off to figure out where she wanted to go to college. Her friend told her about the Academy of Art University, where he was attending, and she applied for the sculpture program.

​

 After being in the sculpture program for a year and a half, she switched to the new Jewelry and Small Metals Arts program.

 She graduated from the Academy of Art University in May 2016 and is currently living back in Hawai'i working on jewelry and sculpture in her home studio.
